Warrington fan here ... Just a personal opinion on clapping players ... I think over 40 years I have walked away from a ground without applauding the Warrington players off on very few occasions. They only time I personally believe you reserve the right not to applaud is when it is obvious that the team are not trying.
Other than that those players are putting their bodies on the line for your entertainment and enjoyment. It doesnt matter if you think they are good enough or the right player. Things go wrongI but if they give their best they should be applauded for it.
Happy clapping isn't about supporting the players on the pitch, it's about just going along with whatever the club decides - even if you believe it to be wrong. It will always be wrong (imo) that the club has the resources to retain and strengthen the squad - but instead decides to follow the rules of the cap. Especially when the real reason we have a cap in the 1st place, is because other clubs got jealous of our success. Ultimately it's the Wigan fans that suffer because of it. Like I said however the fans are at the bottom of the list of priorities. It's like a badly run Labour run council, they'll do what they want and keep getting away with it. Why? Because they know some simpletons will just keep voting for them no matter what.

What you are advocating here is that the club deliberately break the rules of the competition because you don't like a particular rule. Moreover, you are saying that, by not breaking that rule, the club is at fault. Now, lots of fans believe that the salary cap holds the sport back, so I can certainly understand your frustration with the rule. But to say the club are at fault for maintaining their obligations to the competition is a ludicrous position to take. Until and unless the competition as a whole agrees to change or remove the cap, all of the clubs have no choice but to adhere to it. As to this season, we have been in a poor run of form for a while and I don't think anyone is happy with the way we are playing. But the fact is that, even if we win nothing this year, that would still be the first season Peet would not have won a trophy, and we'd still be among the favourites to win everything again next year. Plus, we're not done yet! There's plenty of games left to play, players to return from injury and form can change in a heartbeat. So, I'm with Jason65 on this - we still have many more reasons to be cheerful than depressed, and if that makes us happy clappers, so be it. But, honestly, having to resort to dismissing people whose perspectives you do not share by labelling them with a derisive nickname doesn't speak well for your arguments. You have a choice, to support the team or not, as you see fit. If you don't like what you see, don't watch, it's that simple. Just don't expect everyone else to agree with you that a couple of months of poor performances is proof of terrible mismanagement, and show their opinions the same respect you would want for your own.

Now the different question to be asked, is that a good way to manage the team and does it impact on a players performance, when they arent playing for a new deal And, whilst many of us dont agree with the cap, are you suggesting that Wigan deliberately break it and get punished for doing that, thus points deduction or whatever sanction the RFL throw at us in your words, that is the thought of a "simpleton"

I'm a firm believer that, what's good for Wigan is good for the game (not that I care about the game like). Let the RFL come after us too. We're not here to be friends. Danson is billionaire who owns a media group. If he wanted to, he could drown them in a PR sh** storm whilst tangling them up in litigation. If Wigan one of, if not the biggest club in the game, wanted to make life difficult - it wouldn't be hard. RL in the UK wouldn't last a decade without us and everyone knows it. Time to be more bullish and self-centred. If this season has proven anything, it's that the rest of the league and it's fans hate us. Why concern ourselves with what they want?
